PERTH AMBOY — Police arrested city two teens last month who allegedly robbed a victim at the intersection of Lawrie and Penn streets last month, authorities said.
Nelson Nunez Jr., 19, was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, receiving stolen property, and hindering apprehension. A 17-year-old suspect whose identity was not released as charged with robbery, possession of a weapon, and weapon possession for unlawful purpose, hindering apprehension, and aggravated assault with a firearm. Both suspects were arrested on June 12.
At approximately 3:29 a.m., police were dispatched to the intersection on a report of a robbery. Officer Jose Pais arrived and observed the victim sitting on the southeast corner of the intersection. The victim reported that he was robbed by two individuals; one of them had struck him on the head with a black colored handgun and took his Blackberry cell phone.
After a police investigation the two suspects were located and placed under arrest. A black Glock Style Soft Air Pistol was also recovered by police.
The charges are merely accusations and the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
