PLAINFIELD –- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County, Plainfield Club, operates a Bike Exchange Showroom offering low-cost refurbished bicycles for children and adults.
The Bike Exchange, located at the Plainfield Club, 530 West 7th Street, is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. during the summer months. Thanks to donations from local residents and bike stores such as High Gear Cyclery in Millburn and Hilltop Bicycles in Summit, the Plainfield Bike Exchange volunteers have repaired a large number of bicycles that are now on sale at very affordable prices. All types of bicycles, including children’s and adult bikes, road bikes, and mountain bikes are refurbished and resold.
Russell Triolo, Chief Executive Officer for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County stated, “Donations of all kinds of bikes are greatly appreciated. They will be cleaned up, worn down parts will be replaced, and then bikes will be sold at low prices in order to help low-income families purchase bicycles at very affordable prices.” Triolo continued, “Any proceeds from the sale of these bicycles benefit the Plainfield Club’s after-school and summer camp programs that serve more than 200 local children and teens.”
The Plainfield Bike Exchange is always looking for donations, volunteers, and organizations willing to host bike drives. If you would like more information, call Erin Duffy, Plainfield Club Director at 908-822-8672 or visit www.bgcuc.org.
