Education plays a key role in breaking the cycle of poverty and it is for that reason OASIS for Children is dedicated to empowering the children of Haiti even if it is one child at a time. Although the press and cameras are gone, the needs of this country remain at a all time high. It is so heart breaking to see children born and raised into such unpleasant conditions.
OASIS for Children, Inc is an acronym for Our Attempt at Saving Innocent Souls. Along with having an orphanage, we provide education for 25 children. We do ongoing feedings and clothing in the poorest communities of Haiti. We have lost our home in the earthquake and are now being housed in a temporary facility. One of our goals is to raise funds to build a real “OASIS” where these precious children can call home. We also plan on opening a medical clinic and a school in the small community named “Granthier”.
Unlike most developed countries in the western hemisphere, Haiti doesn’t have “free” education and of course most parents can’t afford to send their children to school. The average cost of these schools has shot up to $135 per year. It is painful to see children who have no control over their situation while holding out their little hands looking for a morsel to eat without the slightest hope of ever seeing the inside walls of a school. This is why the “saving the Nation through Education” program is so essential to the children of Haiti. OASIS is dedicated to providing education to some of the poorest and overlooked communities in Haiti.
Through the generosity and support of the children and parents of the Roselle community, we were able to educate 25 children last year. It is our hope that we can double that amount this year.
Together, we are transforming a child’s life by launching something that is between life and death for the people of Haiti. Help us to empower the future of the country. Children + Education = Empowerment
