Mapp Bests Robinson-Briggs In Plainfield Primary

PLAINFIELD – Mayor Sharon Robinson-Briggs’ re-election bid came to an early end Tuesday when Councilman Adrian Mapp defeated her 2,789 votes to 1,746 according to the unofficial tally in the Democratic Primary.

Mapp had the support of the Regular Democratic Organization, while Robinson-Briggs was forced over to column E on the ballot.

Mapp will face Republican Sandy Spector in the general election in November, but the city has elected a Democrat in every mayoral contest for over 30 years.
