STATE – Gov. Chris Christie and state Sen. Barbara Buono won big in their virtually uncontested gubernatorial primaries, while organization line support was key in local races in Union and Middlesex counties on Tuesday.
- State Sen. Raymond Lesniak won a landslide victory over an off-the-line challenger supported by former Elizabeth school board president Rafael Fajardo in the Democratic Primary for state Senate representing Legislative District 20.
- In the 22nd Legislative District’s Democratic Primary, state Sen. Nicholas Scutari also won a convincing victory over former Union County Freeholder Nancy Ward.
- Councilman Adrian Mapp, running on the organization line, defeated Mayor Sharon Robinson-Briggs in Plainfield’s Democratic Primary.
- Union Township father and son John and Chris Hackett each won primary victories and hope to unseat incumbents in November.
