EDISON – Detectives from the Edison Police Department’s Special Operations Group investigating the alleged distribution of narcotics arrested a township man on drug and weapons charges at the Red Roof Inn on Durham Road last night, authorities announced today.
Mark McDonald, 53, from Edison was found in possession of two loaded handguns, one a .40 caliber handgun and one a .45 caliber handgun, both loaded with hollow point ammunition as well as additional ammunition on hand, according to police. McDonald was charged with distribution of crack cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. McDonald is currently incarcerated at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center in North Brunswick, with bail set at $100,000, according to police.
Bridgette Williams, 48, also from Edison, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and was released following processing at Edison Police Headquarters.
Police seized $5,220 in cash from the room, which they believe represents drug sale proceeds.
“I am extremely proud of these detectives in making these apprehensions without anyone getting hurt and at the same time getting two loaded handguns off of the streets,” said Lt. Anthony Marcantuono, the supervisor overseeing the Special Operations Group.
