LINDEN — The city is preparing to lay off as many as 31 police officers, according to an NJ.com report.
The potential layoffs could be necessitated by the two percent cap on municipal budget increases. The police union rejected city administrators’ requests for concessions which would have helped to plug the budget gap.
Layoffs would take effect on Aug. 9, according to the report.
