Linden High School Students Win German Awards

LINDEN — The Steuben Society of America recently recognized Linden High School senior James Ferretti for excellence in the study of the German language.

The Steuben Society seeks to maintain an awareness of the contributions of German immigrants, and to promote the study of the German language and culture. Ferretti is the first recipient of this award at Linden High School. He is currently enrolled in German V Honors. He has studied German since the seventh grade, is a member of the German National Honor Society, participated in his school’s exchange program with Germany, The German American Partnership Program, and has been a member of his school’s German Club for the past four years. James will be studying engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology in the fall.

Ryan Bertani received the American Association of Teachers of German AATG Outstanding High School Senior in German Award. Bertani is a student of Mary Turbett at Linden High School. He was selected for excellent academic achievement, demonstrated exceptional commitment to the study of German and participation in extracurricular activities related to German.
