CRANFORD — On Sunday, June 2, author David Rothenberg will be the guest speaker for the Union County College Alumni Association Authors Series. He will be speaking about his book, Fortune in My Eyes: A Memoir of Broadway Glamour, Social Justice, and Political Passion. His presentation will begin at 2 p.m. and will be held in the Roy Smith Theater at the college’s Cranford Campus.

Fortune in My Eyes details Rothenberg’s journey as a Broadway publicist, which includes some of the most celebrated names in theater: Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, Richard Burton, and many others. Producing the Off-Broadway prison drama Fortune and Men’s Eyes led Rothenberg to create the Fortune Society, which has evolved into one of the nation’s most formidable advocacy and service organizations in criminal justice. His memoir also includes his role as a social activist in prison riots, political campaigns, civil rights sit-ins, and Central American civil war. On Saturdays, you can listen to David Rothenberg talk about theatre and social commentary on WBAI radio.

Rothenberg’s Fortune in My Eyes is published by Applause Theatre & Cinema Books. For more information on David Rothenberg or to purchase his book, visit
