ESPN Anchor Helps To Raise Over $95,000 to Support NJ Child Abuse Prevention Programs

NEW BRUNSWICK– ESPN anchor Jeremy Schaap volunteered his time to host the Prevent Child Abuse-New Jersey Annual Charity Gala at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on May 9. Over$95,000 was raised to support the organization’s evidence-based prevention programs across New Jersey.

Schaap is a New York Times best-selling author (“Cinderella Man: James J. Braddock, Max Baer, and the Greatest Upset in Boxing History”) and a contributor to “ABC World News Tonight” and “Nightline” Dr. Elizabeth Hodgson of Saint Barnabas Medical Center spoke of the importance of PCA-NJ’s newest initiative, The Period of PURPLE, which works to prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome. The auction to benefit PURPLE, raised $14,000. Live music was provided by a jazz band comprised of students from the Newark Arts High School.
