ROSELLE — Rep. Donald M. Payne Jr. spoke at Heard A.M.E. Church on Sunday, where he was presented with a plaque in memory of his father, who represented New Jersey in Congress prior to his death last year.
“I had a wonderful time meeting with the congregation,” said Payne. “Faith organizations like Heard A.M.E. Church are the cornerstones of our communities, working to make the Tenth District a better place to live — leading the way to reduce gun violence, ensuring every child has access to quality education regardless of where they come from, and speaking out so that every person who works hard is rewarded with an honest day’s wage.”
Rev. Archie Cummings Jr., who invited Payne to speak, is an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church who previously serves as the Pastor of the Heard A.M.E. Church.
