WOODBRIDGE — An investigation was underway to determine the identity of a person whose remains had been recovered from the shoreline of the Raritan River at the Raritan Center industrial complex, Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Robert Hubner, director of the Woodbridge Police Department, announced Tuesday afternoon.

Police were dispatched to the scene on Monday, May 20, after a surveyor who was working in the area discovered the remains and called authorities at 2 p.m.

The area was immediately cordoned off by police, who searched for and recovered the remains, which were taken to the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office for an examination to establish an identity and possible cause of death.
