LINDEN — On May 8, High School seniors Christopher Beyer and Michelle Fitzula represented Linden at the 36th Annual Union County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (UCIAC) Scholar Athlete Dinner. Male and female nominees from every high school in Union County attended the dinner to be recognized for their achievements in the classroom as well as the field of play.

They were first nominated for consideration by their coaches and then selected to represent their respective schools by a committee that included administrators and other coaches.

Fitzula is a two season varsity letter winner, playing soccer and softball. She received All Conference, All County, and All State honors for her play on the soccer pitch. Academically she is ranked in the top one percent of her class. Fitzula will continue her education at Kean University, where she will play soccer. They UCIAC presented each of them with a $1,000 scholarship for their accomplishments.

On Sunday, May 19th, High School Senior, Zachary Modrak, will represent Linden at the Annual New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) Scholar Athlete Luncheon. Over 350 students will be recognized for their academic achievements as well as their athletic endeavors. Member schools are allowed to send one representative to the luncheon.
