METUCHEN — On May 8, National Arbor Day was observed by the Borough of Metuchen. The Metuchen Shade Tree Commission presented a tree to Edgar Middle School, which was then planted by students from the school’s Environmental Club. Planting of the tree was assisted by Commission members Frank Ferrara and Maggie Manza, and Town Council Liaison, Dorothy Rasmussen. Despite the threat of rain, the sun broke through as the crew set the tree down into its new home.  Environmental Club advisor Judy Graziano coordinated efforts between the school and the Shade Tree Commission.
