BERKELEY HEIGHTS — Physichiatrist and pain management specialist, Rajesh Rao, M.D., has joined Summit Medical Group. Dr. Rao is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, with subspecialty certification in pain medicine. He has expertise in interventional pain management for spinal disorders, sports medicine, and orthopedic problems. Dr. Rao joins his colleague, Rohit Oza, M.D., and practices at 1 Diamond Hill Road, Berkeley Heights and 95 Madison Avenue, Morristown.
Before joining Summit Medical Group, Dr. Rao was Vice Chairman of the Morristown Medical Center Rehabilitation Department. In addition, he has been an interventional physiatrist with Associates in Rehabilitation Medicine in Morristown.
Dr. Rao earned his master of science in orthopedic surgery at Bombay University and Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital, Bombay, India. He earned his bachelor of medicine, bachelor of surgery at Bombay University Grant Medical College and Jamsetjee Jeejebhoy Hospital, Bombay. After completing his internship at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, Bronx, N.Y., Dr. Rao completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York Presbyterian Hospital and New York-Presbyterian University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell, New York City, where he was designated Chief Resident. He completed his research fellowship in orthopedics at Thomas Jefferson University Rothman Institute for Orthopaedics, Philadelphia; his fellowship in pain management at Georgia Pain Physicians / Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia, and his fellowship in arthritis surgery and joint reconstruction at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York City.
