ROSELLE — A fake newspaper is being exposed as campaign propaganda by Roselle Mayor Jamel Holley, who blames politicians that control the Elizabeth school board with concocting the publication.

“While it attempts to disguise itself as a legitimate publication, [The County Post] is in fact a negative campaign literature piece created by outside political operatives at the Elizabeth Board of Education,” Holley wrote in a mailing sent to Roselle residents.

“The candidates on Column C (most notably Donna Obe for State Senate and Sylvia Turnage for Council At-Large) were selected and financed by the Elizabeth Board of Education’s back room leaders,” Holley continued. “Since they offer no vision for progress, they choose to misrepresent facts, smear opposition and disseminate self-serving propaganda via the discredited ‘County Post’. It should be noted that the Post is funded by the Elizabeth Board of Education’s political arm called ‘Victory 2013.’”

Holley goes on to express support for state Sen. Raymond J. Lesniak, saying that he “has been – and will continue – to be a powerful voice and advocate for progress in Roselle.”

Holley’s mailing was paid for by Roselle Victory 2013, according to the statement printed on it.
