[PHOTO] Middlesex County American Legion Honors Rutgers ROTC Cadets


NEW BRUNSWICK – At the Rutgers University Army ROTC Annual Awards Ceremony on April 30, Middlesex County American Legion Commander John Adamusik presented awards for military and scholastic excellence to outstanding cadets in each class. Receiving the Gold Award for Military Excellence was Michael Piscatelli (center) of Somerset, an information technology major. The award is given to a senior who is in the top 25 percent in academics and ROTC, and is an outstanding leader. Receiving the Gold Award for Scholastic Excellence was Jacob Klavens (right) of Washington Township, Gloucester County, majoring in criminal justice. The award is given to a senior who is in the top 10 percent in academics, top 25 percent in ROTC, is a good leader, and active in student government, extracurricular organizations or athletics. Piscatelli was also named one of the Distinguished Military Graduates of 2013 for displaying outstanding qualities of leadership, high moral character, noteworthy academic achievement, exceptional aptitude for military service, and was in the top 20 percent of the US Army Cadet Command National Order of Merit list.
