METUCHEN —  To celebrate Earth Day 2013, students from two organizations at the Edgar Middle School gave back to the Earth.  On Tuesday, April 23, Student Council members collected litter around the school’s perimeter including the field and bleacher area.  On Wednesday April 24, Environmental Club members circulated through Edgar Woods behind the school, and collected litter and debris.  They were joined by a wetlands expert from NJDEP, Faraz Khan, who also showed the students how to take a core of the soil and use it to determine wetland status.   Students were assisted by Edgar Middle School staff members, including club advisors Vivian Petrakakos and Judith Graziano.
