Perth Amboy Police Arrest Alleged Heroin Dealer

PERTH AMBOY – Police arrested a 26-year-old city man last week and seized $30,000 worth of heroin last week.

Members of the Perth Amboy Police Department’s Detective Bureau, with the assistance of the Special Investigation Bureau, arrested Cornel Bewley III, on Thursday, May 2. The arrest was made on Catherine Street. Police seized 3,000 decks of Heroin and seized $1,642 in cash from Bewley.

He was charged with possession of heroin; possession with intent to distribute over 5 ounces of heroin; distribution of CDS within 1,000 feet of a school zone; and distribution of CDS within 500 feet of public housing. Judge Maria Del Valle-Koch set bail at $150,000 with no 10% option.

The charges against Bewley are merely accusations; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
