Newark Man Convicted On Drug Charges

ELIZABETH – A Newark man arrested on drug charges in Hillside in 2010 was convicted last week, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

A jury found Wayne Evans guilty of possession of cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute, and possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone on Thursday, May 2. Evans was stopped by Hillside Police Officer Anthony D’Amore on March 4, 2010 on Liberty Avenue. A subsequent search of his vehicle by Officer John Leschko revealed Mr. Evans to be in possession of 20.04 grams of cocaine.
