A long time ago, in a galaxy known as Queens, New York, two young boys grew to become friends, and then grew into one of the biggest singer/songwriting duos of all time…Simon And Garfunkel…

Now since then, alot of water has passed under that troubled bridge, (including a phenomenal reunion concert in Central Park in ’81, which I was blessed to attend), and a slew of hit singles, both together and individually…

And recently, one half of the duo, Paul Simon, returned to his homestate to play a gig and film it for his latest live DVD, appropriately titled, ‘Paul Simon: Live In New York City’…

And really, knowing the span of this man’s work, what can you say…

Many of his solo hits are included, like “Slip Slidin’ Away”, “Mother And Child Reunion”, “Diamonds On The Souls Of Her Shoes”, and “Still Crazy After All These Years”, along with several ‘lesser known’ solo tracks, like “Hearts And Bones”, and “So Beautiful Or So What”, and even one S+G classic, “The Sound Of Silence”…

There are a few obvious ‘missing pieces’, like “Graceland”, “The Late Great Johnny Ace”, and “You Can Call Me Al”, but why quibble…

This Webster Hall performance will satisfy any Rhymin’ Simon fan, with its song selection…

The performance however, does sometimes seem a little staid, as if Mr. Simon himself has played these songs one too many times for his own amusement…

But the listener, and viewer, will never get tired of hearing them…
