Linden Police Undercover Operation Leads To 16 Prostitution Arrests

LINDEN – Detectives conducted an undercover operation at a Linden motel on the Route 1 & 9 corridor on Friday, April 26, that resulted in 16 arrests: 11 for engaging in prostitution and 5 for promoting prostitution. The Linden Police investigation was focused on targeting underage prostitutes who may be victims of sexual exploitation, authorities said.

Alba M. Peralta, 22, of Guttenberg; Elizabeth H. Dungee, 26, of Newark; Shante W. Thompson, 25, of Irvington; Latonya K. Marlin, 25, of Newark; Natalia A. Gomes, 19, of Orange; Jiaoying Feng, 36, of Flushing, N.Y.; Kamil Brown, 21, of Elizabeth; Rodreaka E. Sales, 25, of Newark; Maria Medina, 24, of Jersey City; Shareena T. Daniel, 29, of Bronx, N.Y.; and Morgan L. Busumtwi, 31, of East Orange were all arrested for prostitution.

Matthew B. Andrade, 27, of Jersey City; Hafez El-Sayed, 23, of Clifton;  Jenna L. Youngs, 26, of North Bergen; Stephanie M. Umana, 23, of North Bergen; and Carol Sanchez, 28, of West New York were arrested for promoting prostitution.

Except for Youngs, Brown and Andrade, who were detained on outstanding contempt warrants from other jurisdictions, all of the suspects were released on summonses.

The arrests resulted from solicitations through various internet websites, authorities said. The Linden Police Department detectives were assisted by agents from the Newark Division of the F.B.I.

The charges are merely accusations; the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
