PERTH AMBOY – Victoria Tang of Perth Amboy, a sophomore at the Middlesex County Academy for Science, Mathematics and Engineering Technologies, recently won first place for New Jersey in the 14 to 17 age group in the International Aviation Art Contest.

The contest is divided into state, national and international segments. Entrants competed first on a state level. The state winners will compete nationally and finally, the national winners will compete internationally. The 2013 theme was “My Favorite Air Sport.”

Other local winners include Eshika Bhandurge of Avenel, who took third place in the 6-9 age category, Elizabeth Mishkevich of Berkeley Heights who earned honorable mention in the 10-13 age category, and Yingtao (Dorothy) Qu of New Providence, who earned honorable mention in the 14-17 age category.

The winning artwork can be viewed online at the NJ Department of Transportation website.

Last year, Tang won an award in the New Jersey Department of Agriculture Soil to Spoon Poster Contest.
