ELIZABETH — Republican John Donoso resigned as a member of the Elizabeth Board of Education about a week after his petitions were rejected for state Senate seat currently held by Sen. Raymond J. Lesniak.

Donoso was expected to be unopposed in the Republican primary before Charlotte DeFilippo filed a challenge that led to a determination by Lt. Gov.Kim Guadagno, who also serves as the Secretary of State, that his petitions were defective.

According to a biography posted at the Board of Education website, Donoso is a Financial Advisor Vice President at JP Morgan Chase.
