RAHWAY — Rahway Arts District, Inc. presents Artists’ Flea, a curated market of handmade and one-of-a-kind items, on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The market offers an exciting array of goods for sale, including original fine art, crafts by local artisans and designers, jewelry, clothing and accessories, vintage, antique, and upcycled/recycled products, and gourmet foods. Free admission to the general public.

Artists’ Flea will be held inside the Rahway YMCA gym, 1564 Irving Street, Rahway, four blocks from the Rahway train station. Free shopper parking is available in the YMCA parking lot adjacent to the building.

“Artists’ Flea is curated to ensure a variety of high quality products and to keep the market experience fresh,” says Rahway Arts District Inc. executive director Rachael Faillace. “This means that every Artists’ Flea event is unique and features a distinct set of participating artists and craftspeople.”

Artists’ Flea will feature a wide variety of rare finds from up to 24 vendors. An example of the kinds of unique items buyers can expect to see include, typewriter key cufflinks, hand glazed earrings, original paper cut designs, screen printed stationery and cards, vintage clothing and accessories, crocheted wire and glass beaded necklaces, handmade soy candles and soaps, vintage posters, and delicious baked goods. Most of the vendors are local artists and small business owners from the New Jersey/New York area.

“Grassroots has always been the way to go,” says Angela Pryor of Usable Art, a creative entrepreneur with a Rahway-based studio. “Rahway’s Artists’ Flea provides local talent with a way to build a creative alliance while showcasing to the community.”

Soup or Dogs food truck will be stationed outside of Artists’ Flea, featuring specialty soups and hot dogs. Inside the market, Kim’s InTheMix soul food café will be selling specialty cakes by the slice and hot coffee. There are also nineteen restaurants and eateries serving lunch within easy walking distance of the market.

All visitors over eighteen years of age will have the chance to enter a raffle to win the door prize, a special item selected from one of the participating merchants.
