RAHWAY — The Merchants and Drovers Tavern Museum Association (MDTMA) has announced that they will be hosting their second annual fundraising benefit “Retro Chic: A Vintage Fashion Show,” Thursday, May 2, from 6 – 9 p.m. at Luciano’s Ristorante in Rahway.
Once again, the vintage fashions will be provided by The Gilded Lillie of Rahway, a prominent antique auction house in New Jersey, and all clothes, jewelry and accessories modeled and on display will be for sale. Tickets for the show and dinner are only $45 and additional tickets can be purchased at the event for the Tricky Tray baskets. All proceeds of this event will go to benefit the circa 1795 stagecoach tavern exterior restoration. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the museum at 1-732-381-0441.
Mary Ellen Carpenter, committee chairperson, said, “We were right in predicting that this entertaining show would become an annual event. Last year it sold out and guests enjoyed the evening watching the parade of retro clothing and jewelry. We want to make the show as much fun and surprising as last year while raising the needed funds for the restoration. Our partner, The Gilded Lillie has a huge and varied collection of stylish and fabulous vintage clothing and jewelry spanning the decades from the 30’s to the 90’s. Most women love to ‘dress up’ and what better way to indulge that passion than to find wonderful designer fashions from another era.”
Carpenter also noted that Luciano’s Ristorante was chosen because for their statewide reputation of fine dining as well as providing an appropriately stylish ambiance for the elegant fashions. She said, “We’re happy to say that other local businesses have stepped up to support this exciting event, including RSI Bank of Rahway, a long time Museum benefactor and once again an event sponsor.”
“Retro Chic: A Vintage Fashion Show” is open to the public and includes a “Tricky Tray” of donated and interesting gift baskets. The Museum is a non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible. If local businesses or individuals would like to advertise in the event program or donate items for a gift basket, they may contact Mary Ellen Carpenter at 1-732-574-0513.
The price of the ticket includes the show and a choice of Luciano’s dinner entrees along with salad, pasta and dessert. Additional fashions and accessories not shown by models will also be available for sale at the event.
