Piscataway High School Teacher Charged In Connection With Sex Assault

PISCATAWAY — A Piscataway High School teacher has been arrested and charged with official misconduct for having sexual relations with an 18 year-old female who was under his supervision,  Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Chief Richard Ivone of the Piscataway Police Department announced today.

Adrian McConney, 36, of Piscataway was arrested at his home on April 12 and was charged with official misconduct, a second degree offense.

He was arrested during an investigation by Detective Kenneth Schultz of the Piscataway Police Department and Investigator Joseph Celentano of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

McConney, a physical education teacher and girl’s soccer coach, was charged after the investigation determined he had relations with the female in February, authorities announced. He has worked at the high school since 2002.

Following his arrest, bail was set at $50,000.

The investigation began after school officials contacted police.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, McConney is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
