Clark To Consider Zoning Changes For U.S. Gypsum Factory Site

CLARK – The Township Council is expected to vote tonight on a proposal that could change the face of Clark.

A public hearing on a proposal to change the zoning of 28-acres of land that includes a now-dormant U.S. Gypsum factory is scheduled during the council’s 7:30 p.m. meeting tonight, which will be held in council chambers at 315 Westfield Avenue.

After a series of meetings last month, the Planning Board approved a revision to the township’s Master Plan to rezone to property to encourage the development of a new town center on the Raritan Road site

During the planning board meetings, residents expressed concerns about increased traffic congestion and home values in neighboring residential areas.

Township leaders believe that encouraging development will be beneficial to taxpayers because it will bring in new ratables.
