EDISON – William Araujo of Edison, one of four Democrats who filed petitions to challenge state Sen. Barbara Buono in the party’s gubernatorial primary this June, conceded to a challenge and will not appear on the ballot, according to a PolitickerNJ report.

Attorneys for the Democratic State Committee challenged the petitions of Araujo, Carl A. Bergmanson, Troy Webster and Jeff Boss. They later dropped the challenge against Webster, whose candidacy is for the benefit of securing a better ballot position for East Orange Mayor Bob Bowser in his re-election bid.

To appear on the primary ballot, candidates needed to submit petitions with 1,000 valid signatures.

Courts have been hearing all four cases this week and decisions could be reached today on the other would-be candidates.
