CRANFORD — The Friends of the Cranford Public Library are pleased to sponsor an evening of “Just Jazz” with vocalist Rhonda Denét and the Silver Fox Trio on Wednesday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cranford Community Center, 220 Walnut Avenue. Admission is free and all are welcome.
Denét is a New York City based jazz/soul vocalist. She began to study flute and piano when she was just nine years old, but by age 11, studying voice became her primary focus. Denét studied privately for several years, in addition to performing with several theatrical organizations and choirs. She then moved to New York, where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from New York University.
Denét continued her education and earned a graduate degree in Arts Administration from Florida State University’s School of Music. She returned to New York City and quickly reacquainted herself with its diverse musical landscape. She spent several years writing and producing her brand of soul-infused cabaret, forming and working with a few bands and developing original music.
Since 2007, she has been building her full-time career in music: performing regularly with her band, the Bad Cats, as the lead vocalist of the Kazz Music Orchestra, and with several other regional projects. In addition, she manages Silver Fox Songs, a musical showcase series that brings live music to appreciative, yet underserved populations throughout the New York Metro area.
