PERTH AMBOY – The Provident Bank Foundation recently donated $5,000 to The Puerto Rican Association for Human Development, Inc. (PRAHD) – a United States Department of Housing and Urban Development-certified, comprehensive social services agency, which operates 13 programs offering multiple services for more than 17,000 clients annually throughout Middlesex and Union counties.

The grant will be used to provide funding to the organization’s Mi Escuelita Preschool, which serves 75 children at no cost and offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum for bilingual and bicultural children between the ages of three and five years old.

“We are very thankful for The Provident Bank Foundation’s grant award for our Mi Escuelita Preschool,” said Yvonne Lopez, Executive Director/CEO of The Puerto Rican Association for Human Development, Inc. “The donation is evidence of the Foundation’s commitment to the nonprofit sector and to the communities that we serve.”

In addition to providing programs designed to improve the social, economic, health and educational status of the community, PRAHD also offers a place where families can come celebrate holidays, festivals and other cultural events.

“Mi Escuelita Preschool is truly an asset to the community,” said Jane Kurek, executive director of The Provident Bank Foundation. “By adopting a curriculum that is both sensitive to language and culture, the school fosters independence and learning for youth in a welcoming and stimulating environment.”
