EDISON — Children’s Specialized Hospital Friends is hosting the second annual Stepping out With Children’s Specialized Hospital Stars program is Saturday, April 27. The evening of cocktails, dinner, silent auctions and a dance contest will be held at the Plainfield Country Club, located at 1591 Woodland Avenue in Edison. The program will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $75, and may be purchased online http://www.dancingstars.kintera.org or by phone at 1-908-301-5457.

This is the second “Stepping out with CSH Stars” and the CSH Friends hope to promote the welfare of the hospital through public education, volunteer service, and fund raising. Comprised of nearly 100 members, the Children’s Specialized Hospital Friends is an annual membership group committed to service and fundraising for the benefit of Children’s Specialized Hospital. This group, formerly know as the Auxiliary to the Board of Trustees, has been in existence for over 100 years and has given countless hours working to benefit the hospital.

The host and emcee for this year’s Stepping Out will be Bernie Wagenblast, an Elizabeth native who can be heard doing the weather and traffic on WINS Radio AM as well as 101.5 NJ Radio FM. Participating in the dance competition will be: Michael Armento, MD, pediatric physiatrist at Children’s Specialized Hospital, Sharon Burke, MD, director of the infant toddler program at PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick, Beth Anne Dobosh, community relations director at Children’s Specialized Hospital and Foundation, and Liz Loland, executive assistant for L’Oreal USA and Children’s Specialized Hospital Friends member. These stars will be coupled with professional dancers from Paragon Ballroom in Roselle Park.

The contestants compete for the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy, intricately designed in the style of “Dancing With the Stars.” They will be judged and scored by experienced dancers from the community: Carol Kearney, Gino Jannotti, and Tony Marolda. There will also be a special guest judge, Morris Lenczicki, who is vice president of operations at L’Oreal USA and treasurer of Children’s Specialized Hospital Board of Trustees.

The audience will have the chance to support their favorite stars by becoming part of the Fan Club Member for a fee of $10. The silent auction will include prizes including: a golf outing for 4 at Echo Lake (with carts and lunch), a blue topaz 14 karat gold ring, a fresh water pearl and silver necklace, tickets to Papermill and Community theatres, a silver membership to the Westfield YMCA, and a one-night stay at the Ritz Carlton in NYC, as well as many others.

All donations will help make a difference in the lives of the 20,000+ children served each year by Children’s Specialized Hospital at its ten sites throughout New Jersey.
