CLARK — The seventh grade students in Ms. Qualshie and Ms. Drasin’s math class at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark geared up for the March Madness college basketball tournament by applying it to mathematics. The students studied probability last month, so last week they worked together to figure out the probability of choosing the winning team for every game in the NCAA Tournament. They were surprised to learn that the chance of getting a perfect bracket was so small that it wouldn’t even fit on their calculator.
