ELIZABETH – Roselle resident James P. Wilson was sworn in as a Superior Court judge in a ceremony at the Union County Courthouse last week after being confirmed by the state Senate on March 7.

Wilson most recently worked as a senior staff attorney in the Family Law Unit of the Central Jersey Legal Service, Inc. in Elizabeth, a nonprofit law firm that offers free legal help in civil cases for low-income residents of Mercer, Middlesex and Union counties. He now serves in the Superior Court, Family Division in Union County.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Nicholas P. Scutari recently attended and was a speaker at the swearing in ceremony.

“Judge Wilson is a well-respected member of the community who has served the people of New Jersey well as an attorney, a role in which he has advocated for our most vulnerable residents. There is no question that it takes a tremendous amount of dedication and hard work to reach this point in a legal career, and I was proud to attend this milestone celebration,” said Scutari (D-Union). “While it is an honor and a privilege to serve the residents of New Jersey on the bench, it is also an enormous responsibility. I have full confidence that Judge Wilson will serve the people of this state with dignity.”
