Ricigliano To Run Without Committee’s Endorsement

EDISON – The town’s Democratic Committee is backing Coucilman Tom Lankey in Edison’s mayoral race, but incumbent Antonia Ricigliano still plans to seek re-election, according to an NJ.com report.

Lankey won the committee’s endorsement Monday night, 98 votes to 33.

It is not clear if Ricigliano will challenge Lankey in June’s Democratic Primary or run as an independent candidate in November.

Ricigliano, 73, defeated incumbent Jun Choi in 2009 after a bitter primary battle. She has frequently been a target of criticism in her first term as mayor.

Lankey, 52, was elected to the Town Council in 2009 on Ricigliano’s ticket, but has parted ways with the mayor.
