CLARK — Upon the completion of their realistic fiction writing unit, students in Olivia Gerlitz’s fifth grade class at Valley Road School in Clark celebrated their writing with parents, administrators and teachers.

At the celebration, students spoke to audience about the process of writing a realistic story. They explained how they created characters and gave their stories a problem and a solution. Most importantly, they explained how each of their stories portrayed a central message and a lesson learned.

After, the audience watched a short video of each student giving a pitch for their story to draw in a reader. Then, the guests were invited to walk around, read the children’s writing pieces and make a positive comment. The students were proud to share their work and enjoyed reading the comments given by the guests.
