Court Appointed Special Advocates of Union County Hosts Fundraiser

GARWOOD — Court Appointed Special Advocates of Union County will host ‘It’s for the Children’ Tricky Tray on Saturday, March 23, at Knights of Columbus in Garwood for children of abuse and neglect.

Some of the upper level prizes available include a 46’’ TV, android tablets, an autographed NY Knicks Bernard King jersey, NY Knicks tickets, a Char-Broil Stainless Steel 5 Burner Dual Fuel Gas Grill, and much more. The admission of $15 includes a full sheet of raffle tickets as well as coffee and dessert. The Knights of Columbus venue will offer a cash bar.

Over 450 children in Union County lived in situations of physical, mental and emotional abuse. They were removed from their homes because of the abuse or neglect. Although CASA continues to serve more of these children each year, the need for funding continues to grow as more children enter the child welfare system. The proceeds from the tricky tray will benefit the children served by CASA of Union County.

CASA of Union County recruits and trains community volunteers to work one-on-one with abused or neglected children, advocating for their best interests. Essentially, CASA volunteers “speak up” for these children in the court and child welfare systems, making sure they are safe and well-cared for, are getting the services they need, and are placed in a permanent, safe, nurturing home as quickly as possible.

“This fundraiser will help us get closer to our goal: to provide a CASA to every child that needs one in Union County. We are very thankful to the local businesses whose donations made this event possible. The fight to rid our community of neglect and abuse of children will always begin and end with empowering our citizens to make a difference, “says Executive Director of CASA of Union County, Dominic Prophete
