CLARK — Students in Christine Cemelli’s fourth grade class at Valley Road School in Clark met with kindergartners to share their final drafts during Writer’s Workshop. The students have been working hard to become authors of their own suspenseful realistic fiction story. After careful editing and revising the students typed their stories, created a cover, and published their final piece.
Once the fourth graders had completed their stories, they invited their kindergarten buddies in from Ms. Zampella’s class to share them. The fourth graders met with a kindergartner, read their story to them, and discussed what it was about. The kindergartners then had the opportunity to share some of their writing pieces they have created throughout the year.
Cemelli said, “The students created a book of their own story, and felt how rewarding it is to become a real author! Having the opportunity to share their stories with other students made it an amazing experience they’ll never forget.”
