EDISON —  The Edison Police Department is launching a new initiative called “Coffee with a Cop,”  based on a concept that was developed by the Hawthorne Police Department in California. It involves a community partnership between local businesses and the Edison Police Department in which pre-arranged dates and times are established to host impromptu meetings between members of the police department and the business patrons.

In these meetings, officers will be available to answer questions or concerns raised by the public in a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Safety brochures and handouts will also be available to anyone interested. Members of the public will also be able to enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee provided by the establishment, if they wish.

“Coffee with a Cop” Locations, Dates, and Times:

  • Edison Diner, 101 Route 1 South, Edison, NJ Friday, April 5, 2013 10:00am-12:00pm
  • The Coffee House, 931 Amboy Ave. Edison, NJ Friday, April 12, 2013 8:00am-10:00am

Chief Thomas Bryan said, ” I am very excited about this new initiative in Edison. I am and will always be a  huge proponent of community policing and “Coffee with a Cop” will afford us another avenue to reach out into the community to solicit feedback and to address the concerns of our residents.”
