PERTH AMBOY — City police are searching for a man with addresses in both Perth Amboy and Brooklyn, N.Y., who was last seen on Thursday in Brooklyn.

William Gu, 22, was supposed to meet with a fellow City University of New York student in Staten Island, but never arrived. He was using his roommates’ 1998 silver Lexus, which was found abandoned in front of the Somerset Diner on Easton Avenue in Somerset on March 7 at 7:30 p.m., according to police.

Gu is 5-foot-11 and weights 145 lbs. He is fluent in both English and Chinese. According to police, Gu suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident in 2011 and as a result suffers from depression, paranoia and other psychotic behaviors so there is increased concern for his safety. Authorities said that Gu has no history of violence but is afraid of the police. According to his family, he hides when he is scared.

Police are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact Det. Gilberto Simao (PAPD) at 1-732-324-3813, the  NJ State Police at 1-800-709-7090 or the NYPD at 1-718-946-3311.
