SANDY HOOK — As the March 22 deadline for entries approaches, the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium (NJSGC) is revealing some new details to this year’s New Jersey’s Top Ten Beaches photo contest.
According to NJSGC Director of Communications Kim Kosko, “We’ve taken a break this year from the traditional New Jersey’s Top Ten Beaches (njtoptebeaches.org) Survey to encourage support to all shore towns and communities from Sandy Hook to Cape May. The photo contest and Making More Shore Memories campaign are an integral part of this year’s project, and we’ve decided to add few special elements for the photo contest entrants.”
People are invited to submit their favorite Jersey Shore memories and submit their most memorable Shore photos to the Making More Shore Memories photo contest. Twenty-four photos from all eligible entries received will be selected by a panel of judges and, between April 1 and April 28, voting will open to the public to select their favorites. The top 12 vote-getters will be included in the 2013-14 New Jersey’s Top Ten Beaches: Making More Shore Memories calendar, along with selected memories and musings about what makes the Jersey Shore so special.
Project coordinators are finalizing details on a special prize package for the dozen photo finalists and a raffle drawing for all those who submit eligible photo entries and shared memories. They’re keeping the lid on the specifics for now, but according to Kosko, they will be revealed on the web site when voting begins April 1st and reflect the mission of the calendar to support the restoration and revitalization of the Jersey Shore following Superstorm Sandy.
