BERKELEY HEIGHTS — The Wharton Music Center will present Flamenco Fire, a dance concert featuring flamenco dancers Laura Rose Triano and Krystina Cardenas on Saturday, March 16 at 7 p.m. at 60 Locust Avenue in Berkeley Heights. Accompanying the dancers are musicians Ivan Max on guitar and David Adasse on guitar and percussion. The concert is open to the public. Tickets are $10 and available at the door.
Triano has studied and performed for many years both in Spain and the U.S. She has studied with world renowned flamenco artists such as Rocio Molina, Mercedes Ruiz, and Omayra Amaya. She has performed flamenco in tablaos (cafes) in Madrid and Seville and the gypsy caves of Granada as well as in Spanish restaurants and clubs throughout New York City and New Jersey.
Triano will be leading a flamenco workshop at Wharton Music Center beginning April 3 through May 22. The workshop for beginners will focus on all aspects of flamenco dance including arms, hands, feet, body, and attitude. Experienced dancers are welcome. For more information, call 1-908-790-0700.
