[PHOTO] Math Students Search For Lucky Clovers Through Graphing Activity

CLARK — Students in Krista Chapman’s math class at Carl H. Kumpf School in Clark helped decorate an inspirational bulletin board with clovers and leprechauns made during a graphing activity.

Students reviewed graphing while creating an image from ordered pairs. Students were asked to label the x-axis and y-axis of a coordinate plane before beginning the graphing exercise. Ordered pairs used positive and negative x and y values placing points in all four quadrants. As students found each ordered pair they traced the points creating either a leprechaun or clover. It was important for students to remember that the x value comes first in ordered pairs and the y value comes second. Students also needed to be aware if the values were positive or negative to make sure the point was plotted in the correct quadrant.
