The great Neil Young has had a long and interesting career…

From Buffalo Springfield to his tenure with Crosby, Stills, Nash (and sometimes) Young, and then siphoning off to his solo brilliance of albums like “After The Gold Rush” and “Tonight’s The Night”, Neil Young has always felt like he had something to say…

And, he continues today with his new album, “Psychedelic Pill”, as well as a new Jonathan Demme dvd documentary, “Journeys”, which is a bit of a misnomer of a title, due to the fact that, at this point in his career, the journey seems to finally be over, and Neil has found his way home…

Shot in his old hometown areas in Canada, we get to see Neil trying to comprehend the ‘used-to-be’ in the ‘here and now’, and his place in either…and both…

And exploring this journey further, we also get to hear him in concert, solo…very solo…and the close-ups of a face that has grown comfortable within itself, says it all…

There are old songs cast in new shades, as well as new songs, some that may seem a bit redundant lyrically, but that’s just where Neil is right now…and has actually always been getting to…

The ‘journey’ has really been everything up till now, and all the searching for the ‘Neil Young’ that has been done, track after track, wax after wax, has now settled in for a warm winter’s night, fully realized, fully developed, fully found…

Tracks like “Love And War” and “Hey Hey, My My”, “Peaceful Valley Boulevard”, “Down By The River”, and “You Never Call”, emphasize a lifetime that was waiting for this day to come, and a catalogue of music that didn’t waste time getting there…

The harvest is finally ready…
