Dowdell Library Is Looking For South Amboy Memorabilia

March 7, 2013

One choice can change many lives... Faith or Fate by John Ruggiero

SOUTH AMBOY — Leading up to the Dowdell Library’s 100th anniversary next year, the library would like to borrow the community’s photos, media, documents and memorabilia to scan; the material would be returned within minutes. If people wish to donate these items, originals will be preserved using professional archival storage materials.

This project will continue the preservation of South Amboy’s history within the library’s temperature controlled, historical collection. Earlier phases of the project, co-funded by the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission, the library, and fundraisers – digitized the library’s newspaper collection and South Amboy high school yearbooks! These archives are available for viewing by the public, just ask for assistance.

Either call or drop in Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Wednesday, Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., or Saturday  noon – 4 p.m.

The Dowdell Library of South Amboy is located on O’Leary Boulevard, adjacent to the South Amboy High School. For additional information or directions, contact the library at 1-732-721-6060 or comments@dowdell.org.
