METUCHEN — Two educators were honored at the Metuchen Board of Education Meeting on Tuesday, March 5.
Debbie Gold, a paraprofessional who works at Edgar Middle School with Special Needs students, was named Paraprofessional of the Year. She was acknowledged for her commitment to her work which can be, at times, both difficult and demanding. Supervisor of Special Services Robert Capra called her “a model for other districts as to what a paraprofessional could and should be.”
The Board also recognized Susan Canter, teacher at Campbell School, for being named Educator of the Year by the New Jersey Association for Gifted Children. Superintendent Vincent Caputo read the Mission Statement of the NJAGC: “The association promotes excellence and leadership in gifted education through appropriate programs, resource networks, and community advocacy,” and congratulated Canter for her dedication to gifted and talented children in the Metuchen School District.
