Van Der Goot Garden To Host Rose Pruning Workshop

SOMERSET – If you are seeking the knowledge necessary to maintain the beauty of your roses, the Colonial Park Horticulture staff of the Somerset County Park Commission can help.

A combination lecture and hands-on workshop has been scheduled for Saturday, March 9, (rain date: Saturday, March 16) from 9-11 a.m. in the Rudolf W. van der Goot Rose Garden in Colonial Park, Parking Lot A, Somerset (Franklin Township).

The program has been designed to provide all of the basics necessary to ensure a season of healthy roses. Bring leather gloves and pruning equipment to learn first-hand what needs to be done and remember to dress appropriately.

Fee is $12 per person and class is limited to 30 people. Participants may register at the Horticulture Office at Colonial Park, Lot F or by calling 1-732 873-2459 ext. 21 Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Individuals with a hearing or speech impairment may use the NJ Relay Service at 711.

The award winning Rose Garden, when in full bloom, provides a stunning display with more than 3,000 roses representing over 325 different species and varieties including the award winning All-America Rose Selections.
