RAHWAY — On Feb. 21, musician Dennis Kobray came to Franklin School in Rahway to educate students about Scott Joplin, a forgotten American genius and the “King of Ragtime.” Kobray played Scott Joplin’s most popular pieces on the piano and taught the students the life story of one of the greatest musicians in history. Students learned about the struggles Joplin endured and about his perseverance to rise above the prejudice of the times in order to achieve his place as one of America’s greatest composers.
