EDISON — Children’s Specialized Hospital will present Effective Strategies for the Autism Journey, the 27th Annual Autism Symposium, on Friday March 15, at the Pines Manor in Edison. Participants will learn practical strategies to assist with daily functioning for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Geared towards health care providers, mental health professionals, adults with ASD, parents/caregivers, school personnel, therapists and other professionals interested in autism.

Topics include social/behavioral challenges, bullying;, cultural issues when communicating with professionals, iPad and autism, and transition from adolescence to adulthood.

Speakers include Jed Baker, Ph.D., director, The Social Skills Training Project and nationally known author; Dodi Meyer, MD, FAAP, associate clinical professor in pediatric at Columbia University Medical Center and additional experts in autism treatment and education including a parent panel.

Registration fee: $150 for professionals; $50 for adult with ASD, parent or caregiver. Registration deadline is March 1.
