Deliveryman Killed In Colonia Auto Crash

WOODBRIDGE —  A 43-year-old delivery man was killed when another vehicle crashed into him and his FedEx truck this morning, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Robert Hubner, director of the Woodbridge Police Department, announced.

William Convery III of South Bound Brook was pronounced dead at 10:09 a.m. at the scene of the crash on Fairview Avenue in the Colonia section of Woodbridge after he was struck by a 2005 Dodge Caravan.

Convery had parked his FedEx truck and was standing outside the rear of the vehicle when he and the truck were struck at 9:33 a.m. in a residential neighborhood near Merrill Park.

An autopsy will be performed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office, but the results were not immediately available.

The driver of the Dodge was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was listed in critical condition. Authorities did not release his identity.

No charges have been filed, but authorities said an investigation is active and continuing.
